The star of slow cooking.
Whole star anise brings a sweet, warm liquorice-like flavour to broths, braises, rice dishes and drinks. Just one or two whole stars can transform a pot of pho, ramen broth, biryani, mulled wine or poached fruit, giving it a deep, fragrant warmth without needing a long list of spices.
This 150g bag gives you a generous supply of whole dried stars for cooking, baking and homemade spice blends. Star anise is strong, so use it sparingly, allow it to infuse, and remove the whole stars before serving when you want a cleaner finish.

How to Use Star Anise
Add one or two whole stars to a simmering broth, curry, braise or mulled drink, then let them infuse gently. Remove the stars before serving if preferred. For spice blends, dry-toast the whole stars briefly and grind with other spices. A little goes a long way, so start small and adjust to your taste.

Why Buy 150g?
Star anise is used in small amounts, but it is invaluable when you need it. The 150g pack gives you plenty for slow cooking, drinks and spice-blend making without relying on tiny supermarket jars. Store the stars in an airtight container in a cool, dry cupboard to help preserve their aroma.
